Monique was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, and has always been driven by a deep curiosity about science, technology, and how things work. That passion led her to JVS and the Bridges to College program, where she built the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in science and technology.
While Monique has remained focused on her goals, her path has not been without challenges. She faced significant family hardships, including her mother’s battle with heart failure and the devastating loss of her older brother to brain cancer in 2021. Losing her brother at such a young age was one of the most difficult experiences of her life and forever changed her family.
Today, with the support of a First Literacy scholarship, Monique is continuing her education at Quincy College and preparing for a future in science and technology. Motivated by the memory of her brother and the challenges she has overcome, Monique approaches every opportunity with determination and purpose, striving to build a future that would make her family proud. Inspired by advancements such as biotechnology treatments for sickle cell disease, Monique hopes to one day contribute to discoveries that make a lasting difference in people’s lives.
