LaToya is a single mother of four who worked in leadership roles within nonprofit and clinical housing organizations for over fifteen years. As a mother, her focus was always on providing stability to her children, but due to a sudden layoff and a severe work-related injury, she found herself at a crossroads. Determined to adapt and persevere as an example for her children, LaToya made the decision to pivot and pursue a career in biotechnology.
To achieve her goals, LaToya completed the Bridges to College program at JVS Boston, which combined her leadership skills with new, rigorous scientific training. A First Literacy scholarship made it possible for LaToya to enroll in the Biotech GMP Certificate program at Quincy College.
LaToya also has a passion for urban gardening, where she has received a Boston Compost Certificate from Boston Nature Center and a Master Urban Gardener Practicum Certificate from Trustees. She hopes to leverage her urban gardening expertise along with her nonprofit leadership competencies into the biomanufacturing and life sciences sector.
