When Geremias arrived in the United States from Guatemala in March 2022, he carried little more than a suitcase, a dream, and the determination to build a better future. Starting over at age 21 meant adapting to a new language, culture, and education system while navigating the uncertainty of life in a new country. Despite the challenges, Geremias remained committed to one goal: using education to create opportunities for himself and, ultimately, to make a positive impact on others. That perseverance led to one of his proudest achievements, earning his diploma from Boston Central Adult High School.
Today, Geremias works two jobs, serving as a team lead at both a retail store and a restaurant. A First Literacy scholarship is helping him continue his education at Bunker Hill Community College as he works toward a brighter future. He plans to study law and public policy, with the goal of one day building his own law firm, leading an organization, or serving in a role where he can advocate for fairness, opportunity, and justice.
